Accrochage
From December 2018 until the end of January 2019, Galerie1214 shows positions and developments of painterly motifs by artists of the gallery and from the collection.
Britta Lumer's "Dyade" (2017) is a multi-perspective portrait with indian ink on paper and canvas, which brings the portrait of a head from a Rembrandt's dark background. Jessica Buhlmann's complex image "Folded Space" (2016) reveals the musical impregnation of the painter, supplemented by the object "Octett". By Marie Irmgard we show acrylic works on paper, which translate da Vinci's stain-form experiments into the fluid. Isabel Borges is represented by constructivist picture collages and a small, enigmatic composition in acrylic. From the collection we show three plates by Wolfgang Betke a (virtual) triptych of haunting energy, which combines the symbolism of painting with a intricate design of the surfaces. From Christina Michalis' oeuvre, we take up material-specific works with acrylic and sand from 2012, combined with the sophisticated foil print Avoid / Nobody (2017), homage and ironic refraction at the same time.
